Long over due Independence Day Challenge

Believe it or not life as been busy!!!

1. Plant something
Nothing yet .. but got my Fall seed order ready to go!

2. Harvest something
Nothing.. I do have small cherry tomatoes tho! And still have Swiss Chard...

3. Preserve something
Bought myself a dehydrator on Sat. So I hope to have something to report next week!..

4. Prep something
Nothing here either

5. Cook something
I have cooked more since last Wed than I have in 6 mons! I re'vd my first CSA box .. And it was soo good.. lots of good veggies :)
I've even made Refrigerator Pickles!
Love Tuscany Kale..yummy! Also have made easy Blackberrie Jam from berries bought at Farmer's Mkt.. Made David some Blueberrie ( from frozen blueberries ) jam too..

6. Manage your reserves
Cleaned out my refrigerator this weekend.. took stock what I had in the freezer.. made a list and got it on said refrigerator..
Going to do the same with the cabinets and shelves ..


7. Work on local food systems
Worked on the Community Garden Blog this weekend.. My ankle is still bummed :( .. maybe in another week or so

8. Compost
Remember me saying my compost was not cooking? Well it seems I have maggots.. that are breaking it down FAST... its been reduce by 1/2 in about 2 weeks..
Them little buggers are eating their heart out!
Gross thing is tho you can hear them ::shudders:: but I've read that they are really good for your compost breakdown and are harmless..
Plus the birds like them ::evil grin::

9. Learn a new skill
Lean how to make easy pickles :) lol and to cook all over again !
