Learn how to use the dehydrator( in the process ! ) Learn how to make soft cheese make produce bags ( in the process ) make butter ( done! ) Clean out the rest of the attic wash walls ( done! ) wash windows more mulch ( done! ) dry more herbs order more herbs make herbal meds for the winter ( in the process ) talk husband into using candles and oil lamps for the most part in the house in the evenings.. this is going to be a tough one..

Learn how to can( in the process ) Build ( finally ) the raised beds( in the process ) Learn how to shoot a gun cut our electricity down by at least 50 % learn to cook more from scratch..( in the process ) find a hand mill Learn how to use said hand mill Find a regional source for wheat and other grains find coffee grinder find a good local coffee that is fair trade Learning to shop less and less at the chain stores and more at farmer's mkt,ethic stores,and place like trader joes.. ( in the process ) make a lot of our Yule gifts this year.. another tough one
Garden/Herb Plan 2010
Order garlic for late Sept to early Oct planting 09 Have seeds bought by middle of Jan. Have seeds sown by middle of Feb. Have small plants planted in beds and in the green house by late Feb. to early March
The Plan is for Bed # 1 *Fill this bed w/ soil ( DONE ) *add a little peat moss *top off w/ a little compost ( DONE ) *Add hoops to the bed so I can use as a cold frame in Feb/March
Now the other plans for our little back yard are :
*Move the lavender plant to the herb side of the yard
*Make a small raised bed ( non contained, where the lavender was ) This is where my green beans are going to go
*Make another raised bed w/ rails ; This is Bed # 2
What I want to try new next year : *Onions again maybe in the garlic patch *Green beans *Bush beans *Thai green beans ( which I have the seeds for )
What I know I will plant : *Tomatoes / reg. and plum *chard *mixed greens *herbs
Plan for the Herb bed : *add a light compost to the beds(Done!) *add mulch (Done!) *take down or replant the butterfly bushes *replant the French lavender plant
*Next year I want to expand it again only this time down behind the back of the house maybe a ft or two.. planting hostas and plants that love the shade .
On other plans for the yard for this year and next : *Put mulch around the side of the red barn *Plant the fig into the ground instead of the container *Expand the rocks around that little area where the fig plant is *On the other side maybe plant the butter fly bushes *Clean up the area around the compost bin (DONE) *Clean out and bag up the compost (DONE )

Fleabane daisy...it's in the aster family..those little white daisy flowers that get all over a yard...

Where did you get all of the magnificent Quan Yin statues? I would love to get a Freya statue like those.
